The Beginning: I Owe Him My Everything
The Beginning: I Owe Him My Everything
This poem is very dear to me because it was the very first poem I ever wrote for Jesus back in 2000. I have always been drawn to Love songs. I enjoy love stories, seeing people in love, and being in love myself I was challenged to write a love poem which I succeeded at doing which is when my vision began for writing what I thought someday would be a book of love poetry from a human on human perspective, but God had another plan.
Love is beautiful and soul enriching. Being in love can be wonderful thing, but it doesn’t always last. In life relationships come and go. Loved today, rejected tomorrow, and sometimes the end results can be devastating to one’s emotional state. Some people find themselves looking to fill that empty void once filled with the love they so desired in all the wrong places trying to erase the pain. Praise the Lord things are not that way with Jesus. Having a relationship with Him is one of permanency. He will never leave nor forsake us, it is we that sometimes turn our backs on him and walk away, it is never the opposite.
The word of God says nothing shall separate us from his love which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord. (Romans 8:38)
Never did I imagine God would use that one poem to catapult me into a future of writing. Shortly after writing my love poem I began to ponder what real, undeniable love truly was, and that was a relationship with Our Father in Heaven, one that as I mentioned above would never end. I would never shed a tear over the loss of God’s love or be anxious of its possible ending. I thought about how He truly loved me so much that he sent his only begotten Son, Jesus, who willingly came into the world to give his life a ransom for mine. He died so I could be forgiven and my broken relationship with God, because of sin, could be repaired. Jesus bridges the gap. He is our only Savior, and God.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father but by Him…John 14:6
Over and over in my mind was his love for me reaffirmed and this is when my thought pattern changed and Jesus became the honoree of my poetic expressions, hence my Journey in writing my book of love poetry began. This book would be about God’s love for us, not the human love we from time to time experience. “All for Jesus” was an easy title to come up with for my book because it indeed was written just for HIM. God took my love for “love” and steered me in a new direction for telling my story. I am so glad he did, for what better story to tell the world than the story of the love God has for us.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved….John 3:17-18
“I Owe Him my Everything” has always been my favorite poem, not only because it was my first, but because it was a life defining moment for me. I know the words that came forth from my heart were completely inspired by God. I thank him for reminding me of his love, a love that would never fail me, and putting my thoughts back in the proper perspective. Any time human love fails you always remember that you are not totally without love in your life because God loves you, and Jesus NEVER fails! I am so grateful to be the daughter of a king.
